LiFe DrAwiNg & SuCh

Tuesday, November 18th
First of all, I watched the movie ‘Love Actually’ last night, and it was really cool because it is in London, and now when they are sitting in all of these places, I know exactly where they all take place.

My international studies class today, went to the Royal Academy of Art. It was a pretty cool museum, right off of Piccadilly Circus, and the front façade was quite impressive. The architecture inside was very nice too, with a classical style and lots of marble and gold moulding. I was sad however, because there were only a few rooms we could go into that were free exhibitions. Because of this, it didn’t take very long to get through.
I stayed for a little bit, did some life drawing, and then walked down to the National Gallery. I love window shopping! Right across from the Royal Academy of Art was this incredibly extravagant, and incredibly expensive, chocolate shop. It was gorgeous inside, and they even had musical cookie tins. It was pretty cool…

I made my way a few blocks down to the National Gallery, and did some more life drawing, and then scouted out which rooms to go to for when Becca and her mom come to visit next week. I love the National Gallery. There’s something about the atmosphere and the variety of art inside that makes me happy. I think my favorite sight in London is standing on the front steps, looking over Trafalgar Square, toward Parliament. So cool- especially lit up at night.

After I got back to my room, I attempted to cram all of my souvenirs into the original suitcase that I brought here, trying to condense a little bit of space… and see how much I really have accumulated. I got them all to fit, plus a little bit of room, so I should be ok. But wow… when the time comes, we are going to look ridiculous having to haul all of our things through town, back to Heathrow…

The room at ISH where we eat is also turned into a concert venue some nights. During the times that we are eating, sound checks go on, and the bands usually are absolutely terrible… However, tonight it was pretty good, and I wish I could have stayed a bit longer. It was a bit of acoustic music, which turned into some blues with an awesome horn section. They actually played a song from the Blues Brothers, and the others weren’t too bad either.

We left for the other side of town to go to a bar called O’Neil’s, where we were supposed to go to a play in the upstairs of the bar for our theatre class. It was called ‘I Caught Crabs in Walberswick.’ So, a play about STD’s in the top of a bar… cool I guess. Ha. It wasn’t very good…

I came back for the night, hung out with some people, and then came back to my room to get some things done.
