Sunday, November 16th

Today, I slept in, and it felt good. After trying to get some things set on my blog and eating lunch with Rachael and Colin, I went to Westminster Abbey for the 3:00 Evensong. Once again, the soothing voices pleased me very much in such a beautiful cathedral, and relaxing environment.

After the service, I was hoping that I could do some drawings for my life drawing class of the beautiful sculptures inside, however, when I asked to do so, I was told I had to clear it with the press office beforehand, so I couldn’t… Some things are far too strict here.

I ended up going to the National Gallery, only a few blocks away, and doing some life drawing there from some Rubens paintings… much harder than I expected… definitely…

I went back to Westminster Abbey at 5:30 to hear the organ recital that takes place every Sunday evening. I sat down next to a really nice guy, just a few years older than me, from South Africa and we got to chatting. His name was Chris. Apparently he was here on business as an electrical engineer, and travels frequently all across the world. Exciting, but draining.

We listened to the recital, and then talked a bit afterward too. He was sooo nice, and really fun to talk to. We talked a lot about his job and time here in London so far, and a lot about my schooling, and my trip so far. He was also very close with his family, especially since his dad died not too long ago, and he is the oldest, with a brother my age and his mother back home. He kept joking about guys and knowing where to be able to eat wherever you go, and joked about all the crazy Australians that we had met on our travels so far. All around, it was a really pleasant, really nice talk and it made my night. He was a really nice guy! It's been great meeting new people from all over the world on this trip.

I came back for the rest of the evening, blogging.
