Were in London!
Today was the day we arrived at our final destination, London. As excited as I was to get here, I was so sad to leave the absolutely amazing city of Paris. I did a lot of journaling on the bus, and Mya was kind enough to draw us some pictures.
We got to the ferry a while after, and enjoyed a beautiful journey across the sea to the cliffs of Dover. We told some riddles under the deck to start off the journey, and I had a few that I could contribute thanks to Nick and his badger boy experiences. Mya, the leader’s daughter, is the one who was doing the best at these riddles. Such a brilliant girl, at only ten years old, she was showing up all of the college kids.
We walked around and explored the rest of the boat, and went to the gift shop where they basically only had a selection of alcohol and perfume. I decided to try the Brittney Spears selection… just for the value of ridiculousness, however, it didn’t smell too bad…
Later Cody, Rachael, and myself went to the top of the boat, and Cody showed us her “I’m king of the world” pose. We walked back down the main part by everyone else, took fun pictures, and enjoyed the scenery.
The cliffs were so beautiful. I feel like I am saying that about everything, but it is true. Europe is absolutely amazing in every direction you look, so diverse and intriguing with every step you take. If it weren’t for my family and sentimental ties back home, I would consider living here, at least for a little while.
The rest of the ride flew right by as well. Even though most of our trips took eight or more hours of transportation, it never felt like it at all. You would think that it would feel longer due to the anticipation of awaiting a new adventure, but the drives were so beautiful, and in good company of others.
We got to ISH (the International Students House) and got our rooming arrangements, and threw our belongings in our rooms. It was funny watching Rupert, our bus driver, attempt to direct possibly the worst driver I have ever seen into a parking spot in the incredibly crammed lot where we were waiting. Eventually, the guy just gave up and turned around. Rupert just turned to us with a nod and said, “He’s Welsh.”
We were absolutely starving by this point, so we went to a small restaurant across the street where I ordered a panini and a STRAWBERRY SMOOTHIE! It is the first smoothie place I have found in Europe, and I can’t think of a better way to ease my exhaustion and start my journey into this marvelous city. Oh smoothies, how much I love you. Well, for all of you who think I am crazy, at least I know Sally understands…
